Backups are the one part of IT where you find out too late whether they were done right. Electric Software treats backup and recovery as a discipline: encrypted, monitored, stored in our own secure Lansing data center, and actually tested, because a backup that has never been restored is a hope, not a plan.
What our backup and recovery service includes
- Automated, monitored backups of servers, workstations, and Microsoft 365 data, with alerts our team acts on, not just logs
- Local storage in Michigan. Your data lives in our secure Lansing data center, watched around the clock, an hour from your office rather than in an anonymous region of someone else's cloud
- Tested restores. We verify that recovery actually works before you ever need it
- Ransomware resilience. Protected copies designed so an attacker who reaches your network cannot reach your backups
- Disaster recovery planning. Clear, written expectations for how fast systems come back and how much data you could lose, matched to what your organization can tolerate
The question that matters
Ask any provider two things: when did you last test a full restore of our data, and how long would recovery actually take? If the answers are vague, that is your risk assessment right there. Our clients get specific answers because we rehearse them.
Backup and recovery is included in the way we manage client environments, and it pairs with our managed cybersecurity to cover both prevention and worst-case recovery.

Common questions
Where are our backups stored?
In Electric Software's secure data center in Lansing, Michigan, monitored around the clock. Data is encrypted, and your dedicated engineer oversees the backup health of your specific environment.
Do you back up Microsoft 365 email and files?
Yes. Microsoft's built-in retention is not a backup. We back up Microsoft 365 mail, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams data so it can be restored after deletion, corruption, or an account compromise.
How quickly can we recover after a failure or ransomware event?
It depends on the recovery design we agree on together: we document recovery time and data-loss expectations for your environment up front, and we test against them. That conversation happens before an incident, not during one.
We already have backups. How do we know they work?
Ask when a full restore was last tested. If the answer is never or unknown, take our free IT check. Verifying backup integrity and restorability is one of the first things we examine for new clients.
